I received this book as a gift and I started reading it but couldn’t get past the first 20 pages when I realized that starting at page 18 thru page 36 the backgrounds and the subjects are all jumbled up. This was getting very confusing when you do read from cover to cover and can’t seem to find the next page that finishes of the sentence that you were just reading. Once you get past page 35 or 36 then the flow returns to what it should. The pictures are cute and inspiring but the first edition that I received was poorly edited.

I feel this book has good suggestions and tips for when, where and how to shoot the best and the most informative photographs of a baby. Trying to capture the mode of the scene and the relationships between the baby and parents and siblings provided me with a number of new ideas to use with my grandchildren.
There are two fairly small complaints that I have about the book. First, as I have stated in other reviews, the rigid format of two pages per topic leaves quite a few of the sections leaving you wanting more. Converse, some the sections are stretched to fill the space. Second, the last few topics, canvas prints, designing an album, book publishing, and gift mementos are completed either using outside services or third party products rather than the how-to nature of the rest of the book.
Overall, the book is worth the cost in that it gives a good outline for when and how to photograph babies and children.

I bought this book for a friend who is having a new born baby. Both of the parents just bought a Digital SLR camera and want to learn some basic technique while photographing the baby and the pregnant mother. This book provides the exact things they are looking for. Inside in this book includes excellent photos and provides easy to learn techniques. My friend is very happy about this book. What’s more, it’s also a great book to put on the coffee table for guest to read. The photos are that gorgeous!
