I must admit that I am light years ahead in my photographic knowledge than what will be found in this book, and I also teach real estate photography. So my opinion may be somewhat slanted. But this book is really a waste of your time and money.
First of all, this book is written for the person who has never, in their life, either held a camera, or even owned a camera. So, that shrinks the buyer pool immediately. This book is so elementary in its content as to almost make one laugh. When using a camera, plain old common sense is better than the this book’s content.
What is the most frustrating part regarding this book, besides it high price and lack of good photographic skill teaching, is the use of large quantities of blank spaces and large fonts with super indented margins to add more pages to the book. I suppose large numbers of pages means a higher price. If the book were to use normal fonts, with wide margins and less blank space, the book would probably be half its size in page numbers.
If you are any kind of a photographer, from beginner to novice to amateur, this book is not for you and is not worth its price as it contains little information and what is included is more common sense than new or helpful ideas.
I skipped through the book in less than 5 minutes, repackaged the book and returned it Amazon.
I agree with the author’s premise that good real estate agents should always continue to improve their marketing skills, but unfortunately, improvement will not come from reading this book. There are much better books out there regarding this subject, with more information, and at a lower price. Keep looking and save your hard earned real estate commissions by not wasting them on purchasing this book.

Barbara Lane has done a solid job of attempting to condense a complex body of detailed information into a simple package. I felt some of her simplifications were too generalized, not explaining a few key concepts well. The many line drawings illustrating points are a good strategy — actual photos would have been too busy. Overall, though, it is a good overview of the needed steps and strategies for getting workable interior shots of a property if you are trying to save some money and are not willing to hire a professional photographer. If you believe ok shots will be ok for your needs, then a simple point and shoot camera and this book will help you make them.

The gentlemen who gave this book a 1 star rating is being completely unfair. The book title specifically says it is for people “who barely know how to operate a camera”. Why would someone with advanced photography skills buy it in the first place? To then bash the author for giving basic information is unfair. There is so much more than just the basics in the book. Although I have owned several cameras over my lifetime, I wanted my interior photographs to look more professional. I purchased the book and was quite happy with all the information it provided. If you are an advanced photographer, this may not be the book for you (as clearly stated in the title). For the rest of us it is a valuable resource. The large print makes it easy to read. My pictures are so much better than they were before. The price is well worth it and I highly recommend it!

My photos have improved so much since learning these tips. I used to hire a professional photographer every time I finished a client’s home because my own photos just didn’t cut it. But using just a few of these tips has really improved my portfolio.
I love how this book makes everything simple. I don’t know much about cameras (and I really don’t want to learn!), and even I could understand and use most of the easy techniques.
As the Designers’ Success Coach (www.WealthyDecorators.com), I now recommend this book to all my clients!

I bought this book several months ago and can’t believe how much better my interior photographs look because of it. My pictures of homes were always dark and underexposed before, and now they always come out perfect. I thought I was going to have to spend a lot of money on a new camera to get good pictures, but I was so wrong. My old camera works fine now that I know what to do with it. The next time I decide to buy a new camera, I’ll know exactly what to look for because of this book. It’s an easy read and extremely helpful! I’ve been recommending it to all my coworkers and the ones who have gotten it are raving about it too.
